Blog

What is a Blog?

The short form of "web log" or “weblog”, a blog is a collection of journal-like articles written about a particular topic. Blogs can be a type of website or part of a website and can be created and managed by anyone - individuals or groups of people. Blogs generally feature articles regarding best practices, listicles, descriptions of events, commentaries, interviews, and stories accompanied by photos and videos.

Why are blogs important?

Regardless of the type of business you are running, having a blog can turn into a key strategic decision for several reasons:

Blogs help you attract traffic to your website

Search engine results depend on new content recency, the number of indexed pages, and the relevance and prevalence of keywords existing on a page, among others. As a result, a blog is an ideal medium for your website to feature fresh content relevant to your industry or niche regularly, and as such contribute to search engine optimization (SEO) and drive organic traffic to your website. By providing relevant and high-quality content along with new posts, you can broaden your use of keywords and boost your search rankings.

Blogs contribute to attracting new customers

As blogging and posting relevant content supports SEO and gives search engines a reason to re-crawl your website and find new content to index, it contributes to increasing traffic to your website.

If you include calls to action in each of your blog posts, such as "Contact us for an estimate," alongside your contact details or a contact form, or if you offer a free download in exchange for their contact details, you can turn your blog into a lead magnet.

Blogs engage readers with relevant and meaningful content

In a highly competitive business climate, promoting your services and goods is highly challenging, especially in a non-invasive manner. Blogs help you put your services, events, interviews, product launches, reviews, comparisons, and more in the best light possible. This type of content is beneficial for your audience, giving them a glimpse behind the scenes, and great for your website and online promotion, giving prospects a reason to regularly return to your blog.

Blog posts work great for social media

Blog posts are very easy to share on social media. And they also represent a rich and original form of content that encourages people to engage and has the potential of reaching more people faster than simply waiting for the articles to be indexed by search engines.

Blogs help you build trust with your audience

Blog posts allow your business to prove and share its value and expertise. They can make a company appear more professional by showing leadership within an industry. Similarly, a series of tutorials and debates on industry-related topics, as well as answers to frequently asked questions display expertise while earning readers’ trust.

Blogs educate readers

Closely linked to the previous point, education is one of the top tactics when it comes to customer retention because all buyers like to be informed. And blogs highlight the value a business provides, by depicting how its services or products can become a solution to customers’ problems. Additionally, company blogs can become the go-to place for answers that would otherwise have to be provided by the Customer Support team. This not only empowers the customers and makes them more autonomous, but also shows how considerate the company is towards their customers.
