How are the fallback results for the personalized product grid determined?

At theMarketer, personalization is key. We want to make sure your newsletter campaigns are always successfully delivered and their content stays relevant to each of your subscribers’ preferences.

The Personalized product grid widget that you can add to your emails using the drag-and-drop editor allows you to display different products in your newsletters based on specific user data. However, if sufficient data isn't available, we rely on several fallback options, depending on the type of widget you selected.

Recommended For You

By default, this option displays products of interest to the user.

  • If sufficient data isn't available regarding the user’s products of interest, the bestsellers of their favorite brand will be displayed.
  • If there isn’t sufficient data regarding the user’s favorite brand, the bestsellers from the user's favorite category will be displayed.
  • If there isn’t sufficient data regarding the user’s favorite category either, the overall bestsellers of the website will be displayed.

Frequently Bought Together

This option analyzes the items ordered by the user and displays the products that other users have purchased alongside them.

  • If there is no order history available, the recommendations will consist of the items purchased by other users alongside the user’s top 3 favorite products.
  • If there isn’t sufficient data regarding the user’s favorite products, the bestsellers of their favorite brand will be displayed.
  • If there isn’t sufficient data regarding the user’s favorite brand, the bestsellers of their favorite category will be displayed.
  • If there isn’t sufficient data regarding the user’s favorite category either, the overall bestsellers of the website will be displayed, excluding those already listed in "Recommended For You".

Others You May Like

By default, this option displays products in the same category or subcategory as the user's latest order. Whether the items displayed have a higher or lower price point than the products in the user’s order can be determined in the editor. The products are displayed based on their number of views, from most viewed, to least viewed.

  • If the user hasn’t placed an order yet, then products in the same category or subcategory as the user's products of interest will be displayed.
  • If there isn’t sufficient data regarding the user’s products of interest, then products in the same category or subcategory as the user's favorite brand will be displayed.
  • If there isn’t sufficient data regarding the user’s favorite brand, then products from their favorite category will be displayed.
  • If no data is available, the overall bestsellers of the website will be displayed, excluding those already listed in "Recommended For You" and "Frequently Bought Together".

Recently Viewed

This option displays, by default, the products the user has recently viewed, sorted by favorite brand, category, and eventually by the viewing duration.

For example, let’s suppose the user has viewed 10 products. The 5th and the 6th belong to their favorite brand and the 1st and the 2nd to their favorite category.

The order in which the products are displayed becomes the following:

  • Product no. 5, no. 6, no. 1, no. 2, followed by the rest of the products sorted in descending order based on the time spent on each of them.

If there is no data available regarding recently viewed products, “New Arrivals” are displayed.

Bestsellers

By default, this option displays the top 50 best-selling products on the website over the last 30 days, sorted according to the user's favorite brand and category.

In other words, each user will see the best-selling products in their favorite brand and category first, then the rest of the bestsellers.

Without this user-specific data, the general website bestsellers are displayed.

Live Feed

This option shows the products that are currently clicked on by other users, sorted according to the user's favorite product, brand, and category.

Each user will see their favorite products first, followed by the products in their favorite brand, category, and then the rest of the products.

Without this user-specific data, “New Arrivals” are displayed.

Most Popular

This option will showcase the products with the most views in the last 30 days. The products are sorted according to the user's products of interest, favorite brand, and category.

In other words, each user will see their favorite products first, followed by the most viewed products in their favorite brand, category, and then the rest of the most popular products.

Without this user-specific data, general popular products on the website will be displayed.

Most Reviewed

Here the products with the highest number of reviews are displayed, without any user-specific filtering.

New Arrivals

This section features the newest products added to the website over the past 30 days, without any additional conditions.

If an item is out of stock for at least 6 months, we consider it a new arrival the moment it comes back in stock.

Most Discounted

Products with the most significant discounts on the website are displayed here, without any user-specific filtering.

Latest Ordered

The most recently ordered products on the website are featured here.

Each user will see their favorite products first, followed by the products in their favorite brand, category, and then the rest of the products.

Without this user-specific data, the products are displayed as they are being purchased.

We are committed to helping you offer your subscribers an enhanced email experience through our personalized newsletter campaigns. Even when user data is limited, our fallback options guarantee that you’ll always delight your subscribers with relevant product recommendations that will ultimately turn each shopping experience into a pleasant one.
