What are contacts?What are contacts?
Contacts are the people whose contact information you store in your theMarketer account. Contacts can be subscribed to one or more of the following channels:
- Email - these contacts can receive commercial messages
- SMS - these contacts can receive commercial messages, as well as transactional messages
- Loyalty program - if contacts are subscribed only to Loyalty program, they will only receive transactional messages from the Loyalty program
Please note that laws in different countries can prevent certain types of content from being delivered, regardless of your contacts’ subscriptions, our system capabilities or your pricing plan. It is recommended that you establish the legal basis for the collection, use and storage of your contacts’ data according to your national legislation.
Types of contacts
Here you can find an overview of the different types of contacts that can be stored in theMarketer:
Subscribed
A subscribed contact, or subscriber, is someone who has opted to receive communications on at least one of our communication channels, namely Email, SMS, and Loyalty Program. Subscribers can either be imported directly, as long as you have their explicit permission, or through sign up forms, landing pages, as well as our tracking system. Please note that contacts who place an order on your website are automatically subscribed to Loyalty program transactional emails.
These contacts are counted towards your monthly subscription, and can receive campaigns according to their subscription to the Email, SMS and Loyalty Program channels.
Unsubscribed
An unsubscribed contact is a contact that has opted out from all our communication channels, namely Email, SMS, and Loyalty Program.
Email contacts can become Unsubscribed in the following ways:
- By manually unsubscribing using the unsubscribe link in the email footer;
- Automatically unsubscribed if their email address hard bounces;
- Automatically unsubscribed if their email address is cleaned.
- These contacts are not counted towards billing, and will not receive any type of communication.
Deleted
Deleted contacts are contacts that you have permanently removed from our system. The delete action cannot be undone.
Deleted contacts do not count towards billing and will not receive any type of communication.
