What is theMarketer Smart Sending?

You know what they say, timing is everything. That's why we've introduced Smart Sending—a feature designed to optimize your campaign scheduling and prevent email overload for your subscribers.

How Does Smart Sending Work?

Smart Sending is a mechanism that helps manage the frequency with which your subscribers receive emails. It ensures that your contacts aren't overwhelmed by too many messages in a short span, which can lead to a higher unsubscribe rate or a peak in the number of emails marked as spam.

The default Smart Sending interval for email is 1 hour. This means that if a subscriber receives a newsletter campaign or an automated email at 9:00 AM, for example, they won't receive any other message from you until 10:00 AM, even if they are supposed to.

You can adjust the Smart Sending interval for your email, SMS, and push notification campaigns in the ‘Settings’ > ‘Email setup’, ‘SMS setup’, and ‘Push notifications setup’ sections respectively.

Using Smart Sending

By default, Smart Sending is turned off for all email, SMS, and push notification campaigns to give you full control over the frequency of your communications.

If you wish to, you can enable it per campaign during the audience selection step of the campaign setup. Simply activate the ‘Skip recently messaged contacts’ toggle and the Smart Sending mechanism will take effect.

Similarly, if you wish to enable it for a specific automated flow, click the ‘Start of automation’ block and make sure the ‘Enable smart sending’ toggle is on (blue).

Smart Sending is just one of the many tools theMarketer offers to ensure that your email marketing efforts are as effective as possible.

By spacing out your communications, each message has a better chance of catching your subscribers' attention when they are most likely to engage, which ultimately helps maintain a pleasant experience with your brand.
