What is a Hashtag?

On social media, hashtags are used to mark and connect posts on related topics. For example, #giveaway on Instagram will take you to posts that users shared to popularize their product giveaways.

But hashtags can be used to label anything, from notes to blog posts or products. You can use several hashtags to mark the same content or combine multiple words in one hashtag, in which case you can capitalize each word, to make it easier to read.
